Today’s featured photo is by the talented Shannon Kalahan of Seeing Spots Photography.

The photo – titled “Sounds of Silence” – was taken at Walnut Beach in Milford, CT at sunrise in January. This image is part of an ongoing project to showcase the beauty that Connecticut has to offer (and ended up being one of the photos I included in my recent ebook release called “Photography + Connecticut: The Nature and Landscape Mini Guide”). It was incredibly cold that morning, but also very peaceful and quiet. There were almost no clouds, no wind and at that time of day, no people. It was breathtaking to see the world and the water so quiet, despite the frigid temperatures. Sunrises are always a time of peace and reflection for me, and this one will be one that I remember for a long time.
