Today’s featured photo is by the talented James Collett.
Shooting the Photo
The image was taken on what was forecast as the worse day of the ‘Weather Bomb’ that hit the UK so I decided to head out that day with the camera and see what I could get, I had a few ideas in mind and this location was en-route to where I was heading so I stopped to check it out. As I drove into Port Charlotte on the Isle of Islay I noticed that the Pier was pretty sheltered from the 80mph winds and that the water was actually pretty calm considering, major disappointment to say the least, just as I was considering moving on to my location of choice ‘Bam’ out of the blue (literally) a huge wave…oh thank you Poseidon lol.
Processing the Photo
The image was captured with a Canon 550d with a kit lens, the 18-55mm EF-S at f16, 1/100 ISO 400 and edited in Photoshop CS6. I had intended to do some slower exposures but the hailstones were too big for my ears so I decided I was happy with what I got :)
