Photograph: Calder Flamingo BW Perspective

Okay…okay…It’s true. I’m a sucker for black and white architecture! Kidding aside, Lauri beautifully contrasted Calder’s Flamingo in Chicago against a clean sky, vignetted by skyscrapers. I love how the image appears to be so abstract, but the more you look at it, the more the buildings reveal themselves along the edges. The windows are glowing, so we know it was taken at night and was held so still that the skyscraper on top has amazing texture. If I could suggest one thing, it would be to try and avoid the tangent where the steel beam crosses out of frame on the bottom-right corner. It’s minor, but cropping in such a way that the corner has white on both sides or extending the bottom out so there’s black on the corner would make a huge difference.
