Why I picked this image:

“Sharpness is a bourgeoisie concept.” This quote was made by one of the most famous street photographers of all time – Henri Cartier-Bresson. This quote stresses to put image content and story first, and technical perfection second. Motion blur can add dynamic, drama or mystery to a photo. And that is exactly what James has done in this artistic street photo.

If this photo would have been captured tack sharp and in color, it may have been a nice photo of James taking his dog for a walk. But the harsh contrast in the B&W conversion and the motion blur give this image all of a sudden a lot of drama and mystery. And the shadow of James and the leash make the direct interaction between the shadow and the dog visible.

Outstanding image and concept James! Congratulations!
