Photograph: “Escaping the Sun” by Dan Schneider (username “Dan Schneider” on Flickr).

Why I picked this image:

Silhouette photos are often used in street photography in an artistic way. And Dan’s photo is a good example of an interestingly framed and good exposed silhouette street photo.

The bicycle and the bicyclist are the main subject and I like that you can see a clean silhouette including the arm that is holding the hat. The road and hills are aligned perfectly along the lines of the rule of thirds and the hills are acting as a natural frame and leading lines to the main subject.

The sun star adds a nice focus on the sun which plays an important secondary role in this image and the title.

It may appear so simple, but this image incorporated a lot of good content to make it my street photographer pic of the week.
