Using a reflector, an open aperture between f/2.8 and f/4.0, changing your camera’s angle and by simply moving, Bobbi shows how you can create three different looks from one location.

Create Impression of Bokeh with Flowers

Flowers offer a beautiful bokeh when shooting with a wide-open aperture of f/2.8. The trick is to make sure the flowers are lit and they are at least 5 to 10 feet away from the subject. Early morning dew or just after a light sunshower makes interesting backgrounds.

Changing your angle

A washed out wooden deck can make for a beautiful background when using a wide open aperture such as f/2.8. Keeping the subject in the same position, change your camera angle and shoot down to include the deck. The open f/2.8 aperture will blur the background while keeping the subject in sharp focus.

Add color and texture with trees

Staying with an aperture between f/2.8 and f/4.0, use the dark green of the wooded area to make the scene a little more dramatic.
