Photographer: Murray Fox “Scarness Jetty”

Photographer of the Day Murray Fox breaks the “rules” by putting his subject, a jetty in Queensland, Australia, right down the middle of the picture, using perspective to create a sense of depth. With no colors to distract us, we see the jetty stripped down to its essentials-the intersection of vertical, horizontal and diagonal lines. Neutral density filters were used to soften the water to abstraction, creating an ethereal glow. It is as if the jetty is floating right into the straight line of the horizon.
