Photographer: Chris Utano
I am a sucker for a well-composed shot of a shoreline. As a nature photographer, it has all the elements: land, sea and sky. This image is not only well composed. It is deftly processed.
With sunsets and sunrises, there is always a temptation to pump up the saturation. Utano resisted that temptation. Still, there is enough punch for me to suspect a bit of HDR sweetening, but not so much that it feels unnatural.
As a result, the photo feels like one is looking out the window at one’s beach house at a spectacular sky.
