Earlier this year, I visited a bunch of gorgeous locations throughout the southwest US. If you want to know what it’s like to have your jaw drop wide open, just head over to areas like White Pocket in the Vermilion Cliffs of Arizona. I honestly have never seen landscapes quite like the ones over there.

I thought it’d be fun to share a video I put together where I walk through my entire composition and editing processes for one of the photos I took at White Pocket. Here’s a teaser before/after image followed by the video itself. As always, feel free to leave any questions in the Comments section.

Very nice video for the end of this 2014. Thank you and Happy new year Brian!

Great video Brian. I always learn something when I watch your editing processes. For example, I knew that I could adjust the sharpness mask by using the Alt key and left click and drag the mask slider. However, I didn’t know that I could do the same to the sharpness slider to change the image to black and white which shows the sharpening much better.

Just watched your first video Southwest. Wow, I’m really impressed with your techniques.

Really enjoyed this tutorial. It reminded me of features I have forgotten in Lightroom and also made me realize I have some images that I thought were useless are really salvageable. Thanks, Brian.

I am going to Page AZ in early April, I am going to shoot at White Pockets. Any special areas to check out during my day of shooting?

Your video taught me sooooo much! And you move along at just the right speed, not too fast that you lose me, and not too slow that I’m bored. Thank you so much!
