Finally! Its been forever, but Apple has given us a dark mode in their new release of OS 10.10 Yosemite, bringing a black menu bar and a whole bunch of new features. Its surprising how much nicer the black menu bar is once you try it. When I first installed Yosemite, my eyes were always drawn to the stark-white bar on the top of my screen. With the black menu bar, it fits perfectly with the black bezel on my laptop, and looks great with my Adobe applications. Adobe launched dark versions of Photoshop in the CS6 collection and Ive since wanted a black Apple menu bar and now we finally have it! Take a look at the difference:

Changing the bar to dark mode is actually really simple. On the top left of your screen, click on the Apple icon and choose System Preferences. (Or press Command-Spacebar to open Spotlight Search and type System Preferences, then press Enter to open it)

Click the first icon, labeled General. Now under Appearance, put a check box into Use dark menu bar and Dock.

Thats it. Just one check box totally changes the look and feel of your desktop. Chime in using the comments below to let us know what your favorite features are in Apples OS X Yosemite.www.nickminore.com
