On October 22nd-24th. NYCphotoWorks is bringing together more than sixty of the top photo editors from publications such as Vanity Fair, Time, People, Redbook, Stern, Details, The New Yorker, National Geographic Adventurer, Businessweek, Sports Illustrated, ESPN, and many more. There’s a publication for all forms of photography.
The event is three days: the first two days will be 1-on-1 meetings with editors. Photographers must apply and be accepted into the program. Once accepted, they request their priority of editors and the organizers do the best they can to make sure the photographer’s preferred editors are available.
Editor’s time fills up on a first come first serve basis, but for instance if someone wanted to see Chris Dougherty, Director of Photography for People Magazine but his time slots are all filled up, NYCphotoWorks will put that photographer with another editor from People who works for Chris.
The organizers try to accommodate both editors and photographers in the matchings. On the third day there will be workshop offered by the Directors of Photography from Conde Nast Traveler, People, Redbook and photo editor Crary Pullen of Time Magazine. Fees to participate range from $399 to $699 and the event coincides with the PDN Photo Plus Expo.
