How to Remove Distortion From Wide Angle Photos

If you shoot architecture or panoramas, you’ll often shoot wide angle.  This can lead to an unwanted fisheye effect.  Whether you’re shooting one exposure or stitching several, fixing the problem is stone cold simple.  Learn how to use the Adaptive Wide Angle command in Photoshop to repair perspective issues in your photos. This is a fast and easy way to get better landscapes and architectural shots.

Creating Dramatic Vignettes in Post

Vignettes are a great way to control where a viewer focusses in your picture. Using Adobe Photoshop, it’s possible to create some truly impressive vignettes. With the Iris Blur effect you can create de-focussed edges as well as an alpha channel.  Toss on an exposure adjustment and a layer mask and you have the perfect vignette.

So let’s explore how to achieve this great look in less than :60 seconds.  I give you a rapid tutorial with zero fluff.

This technique is just one way to achieve this effect, give it a try and see if it suits your workflow. This will work with Photoshop CS6 and Photoshop CC.

iPhoto Tutorial: How To Use The Saturation Control To Improve a Washed-out Photo

A few readers have asked for some Apple oriented tutorials…  and I’d like to oblige.  I’m actually a big fan of iPhoto as a great tool for emerging photographers and hobbyists (and yes I like Photoshop Elements for the same reason).  Here is a short excerpt from a Lynda.com class I worked on.  Let me know if you’d like to see more.

This iPhoto tutorial shows how to improve an overexposed or washed out image with the Saturation control.   The amount of saturation you use is very subjective, but consider pairing it with the Definition slider.
