Rob and I have heard lots of people mention that they wish there was an automatic way to get their photographs into Lightroom after finishing them in Photoshop. Or we hear of people who won’t “bother” with Lightroom because you “have”    to use Bridge to work in Photoshop anyway. Let me tell you, comments like these make us want to run to the airport so we can sit down one on one and show how simple and automatic it is to work with Photoshop and Lightroom together, and there’s no re-importing, or messing up file structures.

There and Back Again: Lightroom and Photoshop Round Trip Workflow
Wednesday, March 19,2014
4:00 PM EDT – 5:00 PM EDT

We’re so excited about this topic that we’re doing a whole hangout this Wednesday afternoon. And you gotta join us because we’ll have Lesa Snider live on the show to help us show you how to make your workflow sing. Gerard Murphy from Mosaic Archive will also be in the house to help us stay organized (and provide some killer prizes–must be present to win).

  • Lesa Snider is a world renowned Photoshop and Lightroom expert–you’ve probably seen her tutorials online–she’s always teaching. She makes even the most complex tools and techniques simple to understand and empowers photographers with greater skills. We’re so pleased to have her join us. Follow Lesa on Twitter.
  • Gerard Murphy and Mosaic have made it possible to take your Lightroom catalogue–the entire catalogue–with you anywhere you go. He’s a wiz in Lightroom, and he always cuts through the confusion with simple tips for making your photographic life simpler. Join Gerard on Twitter.
  • Rob Sylvan is KelbyOne’s Lightroom expert, a terrific photographer, and a wonderful teacher. I always come away reinvigorated with new skills for Lightroom, and I know you’ll enjoy the show. Follow Rob on Twitter.
  • Levi Sim is a full time photographer and daily Lightroom user for nearly five years. I’m crazy about making photographs, and I can’t wait to spend an hour with you refining your Lightroom and Photoshop techniques. Join me on Twitter, too.

  1. Will the talk be available (recorded) for those of us that miss the hangout?

I do use them together, but I am curious if you have an even more efficient way to do this than what I do.

  2. thank you for the hangout, i’m having a different kinda problem, it’s getting photos to lightroom from SD card i managed it once, forgot how to when i realized that it was automatically uploading all from sd card i know you can uncheck but then when i’m not wanting to auto upload to lightroom but say icloud or another programme it won’t upload, hmm still trying to figure out if i got something ticked in a box that’s hidden maybe.

  3. Amanda, it can really be tricky getting used to new software. Maybe this little video will help you get things imported; it’s fro LR4, but the process is the same for 3, 4, or 5.

  4. never bothered to use lightroom before cs6 and creative cloud, thank you levi

About Levi Sim

Passion drives Levi to make photographs, teach, and help new friends. He tells people he's a photographer, but he really does more than just make pictures. His professional photography is primarily commercial work for businesses, both small and large, and he really helps show how great it'd be to work with those companies. He excels at photographing people, from two-year-olds to oil field workers to couples married for 60 years, everyone has a good time making pictures with Levi. Besides people and businesses, Levi enjoys all other aspects of photography, and practices landscapes and still life, as well. Other people enjoy photographing everything, and Levi wants to be able to help, so he practices as much as he can to be ready to help. He also runs a local photography club, is a Rotarian, actively helps at church, is a husband, and poppa to a peppy four-year-old girl. Levi writes regularly for and is co-author of books on Adobe Lightroom.
